Maybelline Mascaras Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 01:00 0 comments
I have to say that my favourite brand for mascaras is definitely Maybelline. I think that this drugstore brand is much better quality than many high-end brands. Today I thought I'd review them for you.

The first Mascara I'm going to review by Maybelline is the 'Falsies Mascara'. I love this mascara and the name is very appropriate. I have quite long lashes and so mine tend not to need lengthening mascaras but I personally think this mascara is also ideal for those with shorter lashes striving to make them look long without the help of false eyelashes. The wand as well as the bottle are quite thick and big so may not always be the best for small spaces like purses but I think that the large wand makes it very easy to apply the correct amount of mascara. The only disadvantage I think this product has is that sometimes it is necessary to comb through the lashes otherwise they may get clumped together but for me, this is only a tiny fault.

The next mascara is the Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes mascara. This mascara is my all time favourite and I am extremely fussy when it comes to makeup and own a lot of mascaras by a lot of brands. The fact that it has a separate wand for both the upper and lower lashes is a huge advantage, the fact that you do not have to purchase a separate mascara great. I also love the fact that on nights when you might be going out you can use the upper and lower lashes wands however on a no makeup makeup day you could just use the lower lashes wand for both or in my case, I prefer subtle eye makeup.

I love the Colossal Mascaras from Maybelline, I love all the different types they have whether it be Cat Eyes or Smoky eyes I love them all. The curved wand makes it easy to apply and has an amazing effect on the end result. I have to say that I love this mascara and it lasts a long time for the amount you pay and the amount you need to reapply it.

Overall, I absolutely love Maybelline mascaras and I can't wait to purchase more by this brand. They are so inexpensive and convenient, I would definately recommend them.

Maybelline Coverstick Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 01:00 0 comments
Hey guys,
Today I'm going to review the Maybelline Cover Sticks. I have recently purchased two of these as I wanted a cheap, stick concealer and had heard good things about these.

I purchased the Coverstick Concealer in Ivory and the Redness Corrector Coverstick from Target for just $4.99 each. I think this is a great price for a great product.

I have to say that I hugely prefer the concealer in ivory than the Redness Corrector. I bought the Redness Corrector as I had heard great things about them, not by this brand imparticular but all round. As red and green are opposite each other on the colour wheel, they cancel each other out so by putting a green concealer over red areas of the face it cancels out redness to correct skin tone and reduce puffiness and redness of a spot or around the nose. You then put normal concealer over the top to finish the look. I really wanted one of these because I tend to get redness on my face especially in a morning, this Redness Corrector from Maybelline was the first I have seen so I jumped to get it. After using this product, I've found that it majorly turns your skin a blue-green colour even when concealer is applied on top so really, I think that average concealer works just the same. I'm not sure about other brands green concealers but as the Maybelline Coverstick Redness Corrector goes, I was largely disappointed. I also found that after only a couple uses, the stick had snapped making it very difficult to apply.

Despite my disappointment for the Redness Corrector, I love the Coverstick Concealer in ivory. I feel that for the price you purchase it for, it is a great concealer, it has great coverage and I think I prefer it to liquid concealers. I am thrilled with this concealer and I would recommend it.

Thank you for reading! What concealers would you recommend?

Miss Glossybox Unboxing

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 02:00 0 comments
Recently I have been interested in the monthly beauty boxes and decided to subscribe to one. I researched lots into it and finally chose to subscribe to miss Glossybox. I understand what a difficult decision it is to decide between all the boxes out there so I thought I'd review it today for you.

It's safe to say I was thrilled to receive my first Miss Glossybox and was equally as thrilled to discover the contents. I think its a great idea that when you subscribe to Miss Glossybox, you fill out a beauty profile informing the Miss Glossybox team your skin type, hair type, complexion and preferences. As this is a Miss Glossybox, I will only receive products suited to my age group (teenagers and young adults) targeting good skin and complexion. Most people think that Miss Glossybox is all about the makeup and isn't worth the £7 every 2 months however I strongly disagree. Miss Glossybox contains 5 small beauty products and totals more around the £40 mark than £7. Also, out of the 5 products I received, only 1 makeup product. Here are the products I received:

1.  The Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash, originally priced at £13.00.
I'm overjoyed with this product, not only because I have already got more than my moneys worth with just this one product but it is a full sized product by a very good brand. For anyone who is not familiar with the brand Dermalogica, it is a brand often used in salons and professional beauty. I have been using this product and it has hugely cleared my skin. It smells fruity and like oranges and foams in your hand. You use this product daily, morning and night and it is a fantastic cleanser.

2. So… sinful? originally priced at £1.49.
I have always loved the 'So…?' products and I am very pleased I received this deodorant. It is a travel sized body spray therefore fits very easily in bags and lockers etc. It smells great and I am delighted to have received it.

3. The Jelly Pong Pong 2-in-1 Eyeshadow/Liner originally priced at £10.50.
This eyeliner/eyeshadow is a nice gold colour and is obviously a great price considering its originally over £10.

4. Lacoste Touch of Pink, the full size priced at £38.50.
Previously, my sister has had this perfume and I loved the scent so I was so pleased I got a small sample in my Miss Glossybox. It smells amazing and is great to have some considering the full price is £38.50!

5. Little Mix Nail Wraps created by Elegant Touch (Jades nails) originally priced at £6.
I was so excited when I saw these nail wraps, they are so bright and colourful and have recently been looking at the Little Mix range. I'm especially pleased it was Jades nails as she is probably my favourite member. I'm extremely excited to use these and will write a review on them once I have.

Overall I'm very pleased with my first Miss Glossybox and am glad I chose this beauty box. I loved every single product and would definitely recommend subscribing. You get so much for your money and actually use the products given. I also like the fact that a free bag is included, it can be used as a makeup bag or to keep beauty products organised. I am very excited to receive my next Glossybox in January.

Thank you for reading, sorry this post is so long!

Rimmel London Products

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 06:00 0 comments
I love trying new drugstore brands so when I first tried out Rimmel London, I was pleased with how much I loved it. I would say it is one of my favourite drugstore makeup brands.

The first Rimmel Product I'll be reviewing is the Fix and Perfect Primer. I purchased this because it was part of a deal whereby I got the Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation and a free mascara included in the price. I love this primer, it feels just like a moisturiser and is really easy to rub in. I also find that at the end of the day, my makeup looks exactly the same as when I put it on. I love this product.

The next Rimmel Product I'm going to review is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Mousse Foundation. I purchased this product in the deal I told you about earlier and I love this foundation. it is one of my favourites. For more information about it, please see my 'Foundations Review' post.

The next product is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder. This is my ultimate favourite loose powder. I think anyone would recommend this product. It is so inexpensive but effective. I will definitely repurchase this.

My next product is the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer. I'm sure you'll of heard of this concealer, everyone raves about it but personally, I don't think its worth the hype. Don't get me wrong, its a good concealer but I think you can get better for your money.

My final Rimmel Products are the Kate Moss Lipsticks. I love these lipsticks. They hydrate and moisturise your lips while keeping them looking great. I have two in the colours 110 and 113 which are a bright, vivid coral and a subtle nude. The coral is fantastic, it doesn't smudge and looks great  however I am extremely disappointed with the nude colour. It clings to the chapped bits of your lips and just doesn't look nice at all. I regret buying this product. For colour swatches please check my other blog post 'Kate Moss Lipstick Review'.

Thank you for reading. Please comment below Rimmel Products that you would recommend me trying.

Foundations Reviews

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 07:00 0 comments
I have never been one to wear a lot of makeup, just a bit of concealer and maybe some blusher so when I decided I wanted to try out foundation, I wanted a very natural but flawless look for days when my skin wasn't looking so great. I have tried so many foundations and continue to try more so I thought I would review them today. Also please note that in each picture of a foundation, there is a sample on my hand for you to see the colour.

The first foundation I'm going to review is the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. I purchased this product because I liked the mousse texture and so wanted to try it. At first, I liked this product, I thought it gave good coverage and made your skin look nice, however now, I don't like this product at all. It makes your skin appear very cakey and it clings to your pores to make them sound out. I also hate the colour, it is VERY orange despite the fact that I bought it in the colour light nude. Overall, I would not recommend this product.

The next foundation I'm going to review is L'oreal 5-in-1 Nude Magique BB Cream. This appealed to me as it is a BB cream and personally, I think BB creams tend to look better and are better for your skin. It is very difficult to apply this product as it has very fine microbeads making it impossible to use a brush to apply. Personally, I think that it is much easier to blend a foundation/BB cream with a brush so in the case, I did not like the fact that I couldn't use one. However, I liked the way my skin appeared with it on and found it lasted throughout the day. I just don't know whether I'd repurchase this product.

The next product I'm going to be reviewing is the Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour foundation. I like the texture of this foundation, it is very liquidated therefore easy to apply. I also like the fact that it has SPF and that it has a pump making it easier to apply. The disadvantage I found with this product is that it feels very heavy and personally, I hate it when it feels like I'm wearing a lot of makeup and worse so when it looks like I'm wearing a lot of makeup so this product isn't my favourite but it is better than some foundations I've used.

The next foundation I'll review is the Covergirl Clean foundation. This is probably one of my favourite foundations. I like the coverage it gives, it feels very light but still conceals blemishes and looks quite natural. The packaging is very heavy and easy to break but it contains a lot of foundation. I don't like the fact that it does not have a pump and because it is glass, you cannot squeeze the product out. You just have to shake it out which can sometimes take a while. For me, this is a major disadvantage which is a shame as it is nothing to do with the product itself.

The next product is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Mousse. I purchased this product because it was part of a deal in Superdrug whereby I got a primer and mascara included in the price. I also love the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder so assumed I would also love the mousse foundation.  I do love this product, it gives a flawless, matte finish but you can tell you are wearing foundation as the texture of your skin is different. This foundation is probably one of my favourites that I have purchased so far.

The final foundation I will be reviewing is the No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser. This feels very nice on your skin as it is a moisturiser and it also gives great coverage. The colour of this product is quite orange tinted but if you blend it correctly it can make your skin look flawless. I bought this product to use on long plane journeys as a moisturiser provides better coverage and keeps your skin hydrated and fresh.

Thank you for reading! I'm sorry this is so long! Help me find my favourite foundation and comment below! Thanks!

Eos Products Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 07:14 1 comments
Hi everyone,

I'm sure you've all heard about the brand Eos by now. I decided to try out this popular new brand and decided to review them today.

The first product I purchased was the Red Lipbalm. This did its job by hydrating and moisturising my lips but it didn't smell or taste the best, just a standard lip balm so to be honest, I didn't understand what the big deal was with them.

The next product was the Eos green Hand Cream. I hate this product. Sure it hydrates and moisturises your hand like every other hand cream but it smelt horrible. I only used this product once and regret buying it. I would not recommend this hand cream.

The final Eos product i'm going to review is the pink lip balm. I am in love with this product. It smells delicious and tastes incredible. It also hydrates and moisturises your lips. it is definitely my favourite lip balm and I would definitely recommend it. It is very inexpensive and your can purchase it almost anywhere.

Overall, I like the brand Eos and look forward to trying out more of there lip balms but as for there hand creams go, I would never purchase another. This is just my opinion but I think many will agree.
Thankyou for reading, do you like Eos?

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 10:00 0 comments
Hi everyone!
Today I'm going to be doing the Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag that harrietjacksonx tagged me in.

1. Name a beauty regime you rarely do.
I rarely use hair tools. I never curl or straighten my hair and if I'm not going anywhere, I don't dry my hair. I hate drying my hair so much and would never choose to do it. I'd rather just put it up in a ponytail and be done for the day.

2. Do you clean your Makeup Brushes often?
I don't really use that many brushes to be honest. Only really a blush brush, otherwise I tend to stick with my fingers. I have to say I don't clean my blush brush often, at least not as often as I should. I know its bad and I really should but they just take so long to dry!

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
Not long at all, not even a full day. I have to say I usually have gels but if the chip slightly, I redo them that night. I cannot stand chipped nail polish.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product even if you need it?
Not long at all. I really enjoy shopping for beauty products so if I need to buy or replace something, I'll go as soon as possible if I can afford it.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Picking at my nails. If the rip slightly, I have to bite that section off completely as I hate my nails getting caught on things and don't wait until I have a nail file. I also pick at my gels until a nail ends up coming off and once a couple have come off, I tear the rest off and do them again. It's really bad for my nails but its just a big habit.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time.
Reading. I always mean to read and know I'm supposed to read but never do. I have a book I'm supposed to be start and finish in the next 4 days and I've had it 3 weeks but I'm doing this instead :)

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?
My Dads quite an early bird and he likes to go really early in the morning and I hate getting up so I tend to stay in bed as long as I can before I have to get up but then when I finally do get up, I have hardly any time to get ready so get ready straight away.

8. How organised is your makeup and nail-polish collections?
They're kind of organised. My nail collection is all in a box, they're not organised within the box, they're just stuffed in there but my room looks tidier that way. My makeup is usually in my makeup bag but sometimes when I'm running late, I leave them out. I put my everyday makeup in my makeup bag and then have a separate space for eyeshadow, another for face makeup and another for lipsticks/lipglosses.

Thank you for reading everyone!

Kate Moss Lipstick Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 05:00 0 comments
Hi everyone,
Today as you can see by the title, I am going to be reviewing the Kate Moss Lipsticks. I only have two shades but I feel that I know what the lipsticks are like now and hope to get more.

The two colours I have are: 110 and 113. The 110 lipstick is a much more bright, vibrant coral that is suitable for parties and nightlife rather than an everyday use. Personally I love this lipstick, its very pigmented and I love it. However the 113 colour is not as good. I think it clings to all of the chapped bits of your lips and the colour is not as nice as it looks off. On, it looks very washed out and makes you look peaky and makes your lips look really dehydrated and horrible. I regret purchasing this lipstick.

I really like the packaging of this product, I think its partly why the range is so popular. The red or black against Kate Moss' signature looks really effective and high-end. I also think the colours shown with the number is very close to the colour the lipsticks appear on. However, I wish these lipsticks had names as well as numbers as personally I just prefer it that way.

Overall, I really like this Kate Moss lipstick range by Rimmel London and look forward to purchasong many more.

Thanks for reading!

Simple Skincare

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 05:00 0 comments
Hi everyone!
Today I'm going to review the Simple Skincare range.

I have always loved the brand simple. My first purchase being the facial wipes that I use to remove makeup. I love these wipes. They are very hydrating to the skin, remove makeup and don't dry out in the packet. They are also very cheap and I love how you can get different sized packets.

I then bought some moisturisers. The Protecting moisturiser, The Hydrating Moisturiser and the Light Moisturiser. I really like all of these moisturisers and apply them after cleansing and before I apply my makeup. I use them twice a day, before I go to sleep and after I wake up and have a shower. I like all three of these moisturisers and would recommend all of them but I tend to use the protecting moisturiser when I'm holiday as it has SPF15 which is great.

I also have purchased the cleanser which I love. It does so much for your skin, clears blemishes and leaves your skin feeling and looking great. I use it twice a day again as I get up and before I go to sleep.

I also got the Smooth to the Eyes Soothing Balm by Simple which is great to apply around the eye area in a morning before you do your makeup. It brightens the eyes and I love it. It is also small enough to travel with and fit into your bag.

The final Simple Product I'll be reviewing is the Hydrating Mist. I purchased this product for travelling with. I fly alot and find that my skin gets really dry and dehydrated so I got a travel size hydrating mist from one of my favourite brands. This product lasts really well and I love the fact that when you run out, you can refill the spray bottle with water to use over and over so I feel that this product was a great buy and you get a lot for your money.

Overall, I would highly recommend Simple a brand and am always pleased with their products.

Thanks for reading!

Hair Care Products

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 06:00 1 comments
Personally, I've never been one to do alot with my hair. Occasionally I might straighten/curl it but most of the time it's just thrown up into a ponytail, nothing special. However after watching youtube videos and reading blogs, I've become much more keen to try new things with my hair so during my trip to the USA I have browsed around supermarkets and pharmacies and these are some of the products I've chosen.

The first product I will be reviewing is the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo. Personally, I really like this shampoo, mostly the scent. It doesn't particularly smell different to any other shampoo but I love it. As for how my hair feels after using this product, it does do its job by cleaning my hair and makes it quite soft but I wouldn't really say there was any special or unique about it. It doesn't really thicken, detangle or lighten your hair but I like it.

The next product I will be reviewing is the Fructis Style Ultra strong Thickening mousse by Garnier. I do really like this product, I find that it does make your hair appear thicker but personally, I don't like how much work is needed to use this product. You have to apply this to dry hair and then blow dry it using a round brush and really for me, drying my hair is my least favourite thing to do so having to dry it twice is horrible. I also find that this product leaves your hair feeling quite stale and can often make it look greasy. However this product does smell very fruity and nice and I enjoy the way it makes my hair smell.

My next product is another Fructis product but this one is the Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil for hair, body and face. I really like this product, I think that it is very inexpensive and you get a lot for your money as it has 3 uses. This product smells fruity and delicious once again however I don't particularly love the way it feels on my skin. It is a matter of opinion but personally I'm not a fan of the oily texture it gives my skin however it does do its job by hydrating. I love this product for my hair, for me, it acts as more than just a shine booster, but also a softener and great de-tangler. When I used this product, I sprayed it on damp hair and left it to air dry, I found that whilst my hair was still damp it felt and looked great but then as soon as it dried, my hair looked greasy and straw-like. I also found that when using this product I have to wash my hair a lot more often so if that is something you hate, I wouldn't recommend this for you. This may be different if I blow-dried my hair but I just hated the way my hair looked dry.

The next product I will be reviewing is Sun In Hair Lightening Spray. I found this spray very effective with after only using the product twice people convinced I had dyed my hair. I love this spray although the scent is very sickly and your hair feels horrible if not rinsed out immediately. I find tis product does work better when dried by the sun but is also very effective when using a hair dryer. As for the packaging, I think this lightening spray looks very cheap and is extremely inpractical. As you can see by the photo below, the clasp meant to secure the spray has broken of meaning my bottle just leaks everywhere. However, overall a great buy.

You'll be glad to know theres only 2 products left. Sorry for rambling on so much I just have such alot to say about each product! The next thing I'll be reviewing is the Got 2b Beach Trippin' Salt Infusion Waving Spray. I found this product a big letdown. In the advertisement the girls that have 'used' the spray have very wavy, mermaid like hair whereas when you use this product at home, it merely waves your hair. I find that it just looks messy, not curly or wavy at all and feels horrible so overall, not a great product in my opinion.

Now moving on to my last hair care product, the Tresemme Freshstart Dry Shampoo for oily/straight to normal hair. I love this dry shampoo and think its the best one out there. I would even say it is better than the batiste dry shampoos as I often find they leave your hair looking a little grey and powdery whereas with this dry shampoo by Tresemme your hair looks clean and as good as new!

I'm sorry this post is so long but I wanted to cover alot of products. Thank you so much for reading!
