2014 Goals

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 3 comments
So its coming to the time when everyone begins to both reflect on the past year and think about their wishes and 'resolutions' for the next year. In todays blog post I'm going to reveal my goals for next year blog and beauty related and general life goals. I am also going to say at the end what my plans are in terms of my blog for next year. This is not a review, haul or beauty tutorial so if you follow me for that reason the feel free to click off this post now but I know that lots of you show a great interest in my life so for all of you, keep reading.

Goals for 2014:
Blog Goals:
1. Reach 3000 followers.
I know this is a big ask but seeing as I have gained 1000 in the past month, I thought it was a reasonable target.

2. Become peoples 'favourite blogger'.
This in itself would be a huge ask. I am so grateful to all of you and it would really make my day if one day I can earn the title of your 'favourite blogger'. I will work hard to achieve this title.

3. Improve my posts.
Obviously there is plenty of room for improvement and I would like to fill this space so that my blog is the best it can possibly be next year. Help me improve by answering the questions in my previous "Your Wishes" post.

4. Keep to my posting schedule.
You are all so kind to me that I really want to stick to my promises and post when I say I will. At the minute this is every Monday, Friday and Sunday. Whether that will change, I don't know.

5.  Make 'PinkCupcake' a well-known blog.
Despite having 1000 followers, my blog is definitely not a 'well-known' one. I would like for next year my blog to become a success and for people to have heard of it outside my group of followers. Spread the word!

Life Goals:
1. Always see a silver lining.
This was my 2013 resolution and it will be repeated every year because I think that it's important to remember the good things in your life and not focus on the bad. I will always strive to be a happier person.

2. Eat healthy and Drink lots of Water
I need to begin to eat 5 fruit and vegetables a day and a wider variety of foods and drink lots more water to stay healthy.

3. Be a 'fit' person.
By 'fit' I mean exercise a lot. I want to take up jogging again and stick to running every Sunday that I can.

4. Look after my skin.
I want to remember to cleanse and moisturise every day and night to maintain good skin.

5. Study hard.
With my GCSE exams coming up, I want to study hard and work for good grades at the end of the year.

6. Have fun!
Overall, my main goal for next year is to simply have fun. At my age, and at any age for that matter, we should all have fun.

Plans for my blog in 2014:
Next year I want to make my blog more personal. Since PinkCupcake7 is an anonymous blog, I thought I'd have to stick to simple reviews and tags but now I have realised that I can go a lot further with my blog, staying anonymous. Next year I am going to feature more lifestyle posts as well as sticking to my beauty-related posts. These may include things like "Whats in my bag?", "School essentials" and "Whats on my phone?" etc. Basically, I want to do a wider range of posts. I'm also hoping to do more tutorials and videos, I have really enjoyed both filming and editing videos so next year I am hoping to do more of that. Comment below how you feel about these minor changes to my blog in the upcoming year.

Thank you everyone for reading. I can only hope that all of these things come true. I'm grateful for everything I already have, I just think its important to set yourself goals.

What are your goals and hopes for next year?

Beauty New Years Resolution Tag

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
Hey guys,
So today I'm going to be theming my post on the new year. I found this tag online and thought I'd use it, I'm going to look back over the past year and state my wishes for next year. Obviously since I'm a beauty blogger, these will be beauty questions. I'd like to tag Beauty By Eden and Harrietjacksonx in this post and I challenge them to complete this tag by New Years Day (1-01-14 < 2014!!).

1. What is a technique you've improved on during the past year?
I have to say, I've improved on everything in the past year. In 2012, I hardly wore any makeup and it really didn't interest me but 2013 has ben a turning point. I now wear it a lot more but if I had to choose one thing… it would probably be eyeliner.

2. What is your overall most used makeup product this year?
This ones hard because I change between products, I mix it up a lot and find new favourites but one of my top products have been Eos balms and baby lips because I wear those multiple times a day and they're suitable for everyday use.

3. What brand would you like to try in the upcoming year?
As far as drugstore makeup goes, I'd like to try more of Bourjois because I love their brushes and recently I've been loving their Healthy Mix Serum. As for High-End makeup, I'd like to try Urban Decay, especially their setting spray and Naked Palettes because everyone rave about them.

4. Are there any products that you'd like to use up this year?
I have to say, I'm not 100% sure what this question means whether its a good product that I want to keep using and use up or a bad one that I want rid of. I'm going to take it as a bad product that I want rid of so I'd probably say… Rimmel's Wake Me Up Concealer (Shock Horror), I know everyone raves about this and seems to love it but I have to say that I personally don't understand why, for me, it doesn't cover up under eye circles, blemish, skin discolouration and it doesn't make me look 'awake' like I should.

5. Favourite Winter Outfit and Makeup?
I love wearing leggings, ugg boots and a big wooly jumper during colder, winter months and if you want to see the makeup I wear for it, please watch my winter makeup tutorial.

6. What is one bad makeup habit that you want to break in the new year?
Cleaning my brushes more, that's what I want to do in the new year. I really don't clean them often enough which is bad because it can lead to breakouts and clogged pores.

7. Favourite Clothing to keep warm in the winter?
An oversized wooly jumper < A wardrobe must-have for me.

8. A fellow blogger you've been loving this year?
I've loved reading Harrietjacksonx and BeautyByEden whom are both fairly new to the blogging world  like me and have done great in the past few months that they've had their blogs. I would really recommend viewing their blogs.

9. What activity are you going to start next year?
I really should begin to exercise more. I want to get into running because my Mum's a runner and my sister likes it too.  I did it for a while and was actually alright at it but then I stopped so I really need to keep in shape and go for a jog every so often.

10. Describe the year 2013 in 3 words.
Joyful, unique, laughter.

I've really become my own person in this past year, not caring as much what people think, beginning to wear makeup and change my fashion sense and beginning to do what I want and not care about what other people might think (In a good way). I'm much more confident and I really feel I've grown in this past year. I can only hope that 2014 will be just as great a year as 2013.

If you want to do this tag please link your post below and I'll try and read it. You're all welcome to participate, I just couldn't sit and name you all!

Thank you to all my followers for continually reading my posts and I wish you all the best for 2014.
Also before I go, can I just ask you if you have any idea for future posts? If you have any tags, reviews, tutorials etc that you'd like to see, please comment below. I'd love to do them.

Your Wishes

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 15:38 8 comments
Hey everyone!
First off, before I start my blog post for today, I just want to say I'm really sorry I haven't been doing any beauty reviews/tutorials etc recently. With it being this time of year (christmas, new year..) I've been trying to theme my posts on that. I'm sorry about that, it should be beginning to get back to normal in January.

Anyway, onto this post, you're probably wondering what I mean by 'your wishes'. In todays post, I really want to ask you what you like and dislike about my blog. Next year, one of my goals is to improve my blog and become your favourite blogger (I have a post all about my goals tomorrow). In order to do this, I need to know more about what you like and dislike so today I'm going to ask you questions and please feel free to comment below your answers so that I can improve, this is your chance to change my blog so that you enjoy it more. I want true opinions (obviously don't be mean!) so I want to know what you like best and how you think I can improve etc. Anyway, just take a look at these questions and comment below if you would like to, thanks!

1. What is your favourite type of blog post? (Tags, Reviews, Tutorials etc.)

2. Do you prefer beauty or fashion related posts?

3. Would you like me to feature posts about non-related beauty things?

4. Do you prefer it when I do longer detailed posts or short posts?

5. Do you prefer it when I have lots of pictures or just a few?

6. How often would you like me to post?

7. What has been your favourite of my posts so far?

8. How often do you look at my blog?

9. What is your favourite thing about my blog?

10. What do you dislike about my blog?

11. Any ways you can think of that would improve my blog in any way?

Thank you to everyone who answers and comments regularly. I always read your comments and I'm excited to read your opinions and suggestions. If you only want to answer a few of the questions feel free, I'll be grateful for any answers.

My Christmas Presents

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 8 comments
Hey guys,
I hope you all had a great christmas! I know I did! Today I thought I'd tell you some beauty products I got for Christmas. I'm not going to bore you with all the wonderful gifts I received because I don't want this to be a boring blog post as I am a beauty blogger, anyway, here are the beauty products I got for christmas.

Ok, so you all know what products I wanted for christmas if you've read my previous blog posts. I haven't yet received them all because my family often spend Christmas abroad seeing as we have a holiday home so these are the products I've gotten over seas. I'll let you know what other gifts I received when I return to the UK.

1. Britney Spears Perfume Kit
I have previously had the perfumes Midnight Fantasy, Fantasy and Curious by Britney Spears and they have all been some of my favourite perfumes so when I opened this present I was thrilled. It contains: Fantasy, Radiance and Curious (Radiance also smells amazing!) and it also has a small container things where you can place the small tube of perfume into it to travel with. It's like the little things where you pump the perfume into a small container except with this one you can swap it quicker. This was a great present.

2. One Direction One Moment Perfume.
So over the past year, I have joined all the Directioners out there in becoming obsessed with One Direction. I always liked them but this year I've watched their film (which started my obsession), bought their latest CD, concert Tickets, magazines, books.. everything. One Moment was on my christmas list simply because it was One Direction so when I received it and opened it, the first thing I did was smell it (obviously) and it smells amazing! I would actually buy it even if it wasn't One Direction, its one of my favourites and its all I've worn over the past few days.

3. Beauty Blender
This was a late add-on to my Beauty Christmas List because I've seen so many you tubers rave about them. They are a small sponge that you place in water and it grows, you then dampen it and use it to blend foundation or makeup in. It is really good and I didn't notice how big it grew! If you see in the group photo of my presents you'll see it in its small packaging before I put it in water and then below it's lots bigger and will not fit into the packaging.

4. Real Techniques Makeup Brushes
So I wanted some great makeup brushes for Christmas and I got some! These are great, I would definitely say better than Mac ones (my sister has Mac ones) and much cheaper. If you are deciding to purchase some good makeup brushes, I'd defineatly go with these, they're worth the money you pay for them. I only got the starter set (A multi-task brush which I use for blush/powder foundation, a foundation brush which I use for liquid foundation and concealer and an Eyeshadow brush.).

5. Maybelline Colour Sensation Lipsticks
I wanted a pink and red lipstick and I got them from this brand. I already have a purple one from this brand so I already knew they were great. They are so pigmented and the colour really does last. When I opened it on Christmas Day, I swatched them on my hand, now on the 27th baring in mind that I've washed 3 times since, they are still visible on the back of my hand. Obviously they've faded, but they're still visible. I have the colours 870 and 895.

 6. A Mac Eyeshadow Palette.
This is my first Mac product! Yay! I wanted an eyeshadow palette containing some gold and browns etc but didn't ask for Mac so when I opened this product i was so excited to try it! These eyeshadows are super pigmented, last so well and are so vivid, I love this present.

Thank you for reading! What did you get for Christmas?

Thanks to everyone who has read my posts over the last 25 days (blogmas), in a couple of days I will post what I got for Christmas.

Hi guys,

Today I'm going to do something a bit different, I'm going to recommend blogs for you!
One blog I'd 100% recommend is Harrietjacksonx. Her blog is amazing! She mainly does beauty reviews but she dos also do tags and favourites videos etc. She's also starting to do videos and they are so good. She inspired me to create this blog and she's helped me so much in deciding whether or not to buy a product and if you comment a question, she'll reply and help you as best as she can. She's such a good blogger, her blogs are never too long and boring and they always have lots of pictures so that you can see what the products are like, they are also always personal and cute. I love reading her blogs and I think you will too!

She's also recently posted her first video which honestly was amazing, she's so talented at videos and I hope she does many more. Her blog is absolutely amazing, she's gained so many followers recently and she deserves all the success, please follow her blog as I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.

How To: Christmas Day Curls Tutorial

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 3 comments
Hey guys!

Another video today but for this one I decided to show you how I'm going to style my hair on Christmas day. As you can see from the title, I'm going with curls. I only showed you how to do one curl in this video because I didn't see any point in doing my whole hair just for this tutorial but I think its pretty obvious that you just repeat it with the rest of your hair.

You can only watch this video on computers. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for watching! See yesterdays post for my Christmas Day outfit.

Maybelline Colossal Mascara Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 9 comments
Hey guys!
So you know how much I love Maybellines mascaras! They are all so good and I would buy them anyway over a high-end mascara. Every single mascara is amazing and I just think that they are the best out there.

Recently, I have bought Maybelline Colossal mascara and decided to review it today.

Once again, I am impressed by the quality of this mascara. It is so good and makes your eyes look so much nicer especially when you pair it with a eyelash curler - I would always recommend using one, it really does make a HUGE difference. Anyway, this mascara lengthens you eyelashes without them looking clumpy and is just generally a great mascara.

The only down side is that within the first couple of hours of you wearing this mascara, it is very easy to smudge, its not waterproof and you have to completely keep your hands away from your eyes otherwise it does make a mess. If you don't touch or rub your eyes often, it won't be a problem but for me, I'm constantly rubbing and touching my eyes so this is a huge disadvantage. Nevertheless, I would still repurchase this product.

Christmas Day Outfit

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 16:44 10 comments
Hi everyone!
Christmas day is almost upon us! Yay! I love christmas but usually I have to say that when it comes to looks, I don't make an effort on christmas day. I'll not even have a shower so my hair will be greasy, no makeup and I won't get out of my pyjamas until lunch, even then I'll only have some joggers on. However this year, I wanted it to be different. I want to make a big effort and look nice on christmas so this is what I am going to wear.

So this is a burgundy dress with lace detail at the top. It has an underskirt making the bottom of the skirt come out. It is quite dressy however it is reusable and I will wear it again.

This is quite a comfy dress really and it fits very well. It has a zipper up the back from the waist upwards and a ribbon tie around the middle making it fit securely and look a lot nicer. This also makes it look a lot more slimming and shows off your waist more. You could probably pair this dress with a belt to show of your waist further and create a bigger slimming effect.

I probably won't wear shoes on the day because I won't be leaving the house but if I was attending a bigger occasion or a party or something, I would pair this dress with quite simple shoes. In the photo, I have some new black heels of mine from the Lauren Conrad range at Kohls, these were on sale so I took the opportunity. This dress would also look nice with nude shoes.

I purchased this dress at Dillards but I have previously seen a very similar one at JCPenny. I would say that this dress isn't the cheapest in the world but if you're wearing it again it will be worth it, it is very good quality. I also think it's worth mentioning that you should try this dress on before purchasing it as the sizes can be very inaccurate. For example, I'm usually a size 0 but this dress is a size 2-3 and I'm definitely not a 2-3. I'm so glad I tried it on otherwise I wouldn't have bought it!

Thank you!

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 5 comments
Hey guys!
So today I want to say some huge thankyous. I know this may be an extremely boring post to read but I think that once in a while it is necessary to thank some people, so here goes.

First of I need to say a huge thank you to my best friend! (She knows who she is). Without my best friend, I wouldn't have even begun this blog or even been interested in the blogging and youtube world. She has always been obsessed with these things and telling me to watch videos or read blogs so one day I decided to do it to please her mainly and I loved it. Slowly, I too have become addicted to these things and I am grateful that she introduced them to me. I'm especially thankful that she persuaded me to create this blog and has continually given me support and help! So my biggest thank you goes to her.

Another thank you is to all of you followers and readers. It's one thing to follow someone and be a 'ghost follower' but to all those people who actually sit and read my blogs and are kind enough to like them or send me a comment, I am hugely grateful to all of you! I never thought it would be this successful in such a short amount of time so I need to say a huge thank you to all of you!

Ok so whats written above was what I wrote and scheduled to be posted a few days ago. Since then my best friend has informed me that my blog is number 3 on the 'Up and coming' blogs list. Hers is also on there and we are both so happy. I couldn't have done it without all of you and I cannot thank you enough, it makes us both so happy to know that you all support us and got us there. Thank you so much.

I'm sorry this post may have been a bit boring but I think its necessary to do this every now and then.

This product is non-beauty related but I thought I'd tell you anyway. I received Coldplays Mylo Xyloto Record! If you've read my previous blogs, you'll know that for christmas I'm asking for a record player and my best friend knew that so she bought me a record! I'm so pleased with this and excited to play it after christmas.

I also received a photo frame to match my new bedroom with my favourite picture of us inside it, I loved how thoughtful this present was and it looks great in my room!

Gelish Nails Tutorial

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 5 comments
Hey Guys!
Today i've tried out my first video tutorial! I decided to do a tutorial for gel nails.
I'm sorry that at times in this video, the view is out of focus, I didn't notice until I was editing it. I'm also sorry that these nails are messier than usual, it's because I was focusing more on filming than the actual painting my nails!

I hope you enjoy this tutorial, I really enjoyed filming and editing it and may in future try doing some more videos. If you have any ideas that I could do, please comment.

I also think its worth mentioning that you have to watch this video on a computer. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience but it does not work through a mobile device.

Thanks for watching!

Mascaras Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 6 comments
Hi Everyone,

Today I'm going to compare some popular and not-so popular mascaras for you. I'm not one to pile on the makeup and make my lashes look false so my opinions may be very different to yours but I'm going to try my best to review each product to cater for everyones likes and dislikes.

So the first mascara is Rimmel London's Lash Accelerator Mascara in Brown/Black. It says on the bottle 'Mascara with grow lash complex'. This is a very good idea in my opinion because it can help prevent people from constantly wearing false lashes but I like very natural looking lashes and so this is not the best mascara for me but it is still a very good product.

The next mascara is Maybelline's Define-A-Lash. This was one of the first mascaras I purchased. It is very inexpensive and a standard mascara. It really does define your lashes so once again it is not for me but I think that people looking for false looking lashes shouldn't be put off by the small applicator because this mascara really does make your eyelashes both appear and feel bigger.

The next mascara is Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl. I received this mascara as part of a birthday gift set and I do think it is a very big false-lashes feel mascara. If I had to name a dupe for this mascara it would probably be the Benefit Bad Gal Mascara because the applicator is huge and your lashes really do appear huge and long, again its not for me but it is still a great mascara. The only problem is that the applicator is so big that it often goes onto your eyelid or eyebrow when applying.

The next product is Rimmel London's Scandal Eyes flex. This was a free mascara upon purchase and I can see why. It is a terrible mascara! Not only is the applicator too big to apply the mascara well but it feels and looks terrible! I would not recommend this at all.

The next mascara is Covergirls Exact Eyelights Mascara for hazel eyes. I did a review on this range yesterday and talked about it. The product is a very good mascara, one of my favourites but I wouldn't particularly say it made your eye colour pop any different to other mascaras. I like it because the applicator is small and your lashes look more natural when you use this mascara but I definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for a false-eyelash effect.

The final mascara is on of Maybelline's The Falsies. Everyone raves about this mascara so when THe Falsies Big Eyes came to the shelf, I decided to give it a try. I do love this mascara! I like the fact that it has both a lower and upper lashes applicator to get a full falsies effect. This allows you to apply the lower lashes mascara to the upper lashes if you are wanting a more natural look which I love. This is probably my favourite mascara.

Thanks for reading everyone!

Covergirl Exact Eyelights

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 01:00 0 comments
Hi everyone,
Today I'm going to be reviewing the Covergirl exact eyelights range. This is a range targeted to specific eye colours. I have hazel eyes so the products I'm reviewing are suited to that colour but these products are available for other eye colours.

This is the eyeshadow palette suited for hazel eyes. They give you a range of colours and I love them all. On the back of the packaging, there is also a guide of how to apply it well to make your hazel eyes pop. The disadvantage with this guide is that it is on the back of the packaging so you either have to dispose of it or keep the packaging, I wish it came with a separate sheet.

The mascara is a golden-brown colour to complement hazel eyes. I like the fact that the applicator is quite small because personally I like less mascara applied but if you like a false lashes effect I wouldn't recommend this mascara.

Finally, the eyeliner. This colour is a greeny colour to bring out the green in the hazel eyes. I really like this eyeliner, it is one of my favourites and I would definitely repurchase it. The only down sound is that it doesn't apply easily to the waterline but I find that it looks better under the eyes at the corners anyway so it isn't a problem to me.

Biore Blackhead Strips Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 01:00 1 comments
Hi everyone,
Today as part of blogmas, I am going to review the Biore Blackhead Strips.

Many people rave about these blackhead strips but I don't see what the fuss is. I personally don't think they help to reduce or eliminate blackheads at all. They don't do anything for your skin and I will not be repurchasing these strips.

Sorry this was so short!

Mini Beauty Haul

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 01:00 0 comments
Hi everyone!

I've recently been on a small beauty haul, not to anywhere special just to tesco and I've purchased some great products so I decided to review them for you today.

So I purchased lots of makeup. The first product I bought was the Rimmel London Fix & Primer. This was a repurchase because I've used up my first bottle! I love this product so much. It feels like a moisturiser when you rub it into your skin and it makes your makeup last all day, I would definitely say that this is my favourite primer. Its so inexpensive too, its great.

My next item was the Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circles Concealer. This was a product that I have already purchased but lost so I have repurchased it. This is 100% my favourite under-eye concealer, I love the sponge applicator and I would definitely recommend it.

The next product is the Rimmel London True Match Perfection Foundation in the colour Classic Ivory. I have not yet used this item since purchasing it but I have borrowed someone else's not long ago and really liked it so I decided to buy myself one. I am hoping that this is going to be my favourite foundation because if you've read my previous blog posts, you'll know that I've been waiting to find a foundation I love. With the way it felt when I borrowed it, I'm sure it will.

I also bought another foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in the colour Vanilla. I also borrowed this foundation and paired it with Rimmel London True Match Perfection and loved the way my skin appeared so I just had to purchase this myself. The foundation feels very light on your skin which is the way I like it and gives quite a light-medium coverage. I also loved that it smelt like strawberries. I really enjoyed using this foundation.

The next product is the Bourjois Blush in the colour Rose 15. This is a much darker colour blush which is what I wanted for this winter season, it is also very autumnal so I will use it next year too. I already have a Bourjois Blush and I really like that so I thought it was safe to buy another from this brand.

Th final product I purchased was the Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer. I was reading Harrietjacksonx blog post not long ago and she said she liked these lip lacquers so I decided to try them out for myself. I have it in the colour Nova and I really like this product so far.

Overall, my haul was a big success and I can't wait to use these products in the future.
