Eyebrow Pencils: A Comparison

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 0 comments
Today I'm going to review 3 eyebrow pencils. These are all from the drugstore.

My first pencil is from Maybelline and is the Maybelline Define-A-Brow. I do like this pencil but I find that the comb on the end is pointless. I like to use that for combing through my lashes but not eyebrows. I find this pencil in particular very similar to Macs Eyebrow pencils but personally I do prefer other drugstore pencils that I will be talking about next.

My next brow pencil is also from Maybelline. This is the Mastershape Brow Pencil. I really like this pencil for my brows and have re-purchased it several times. The crayon has a very waxy consistency and I like that as I think it looks more natural than a harsh pencil. I also like the brush on the end as it combs through my brows well making the pencil look more natural.

My third brow product from the drugstore is the Soap and Glory Brow Archery. I love this product. Not only does it have a pen side which is great for natural looking hairs but it also has a crayon side. I find this is a great product as it has two different options, both of which I use frequently. It is extremely cheap for a great item and I will definitely repurchase it.

The No Makeup Makeup Look

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
This look has got to be my favourite. I love makeup but I like it to be extremely subtle. Unless its a big event, I don't like my mascara to be visible and clumpy nor do I like my foundation to be heavy. These are some things I do to achieve this subtle look.

1. I like to use no foundation and just concealer. I use Collections Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 01 and put it on any blemishes and under my eyes. I use it very sparingly as I still want to look natural.

2. Now I like to add a tiny amount of a subtle pink blush to the apples of my cheeks. I don't like there to be any harsh line. I just do it to look like I had a hot flush or had been outside in the cold.

3. Now I curl my eyelashes. This is a crucial step because it makes all the difference especially when you won't be wearing mascara like me. If you want something on your lashes, add a clear mascara or a brown mascara. Don't use black as it will look to harsh with this look. I would also recommend brushing through your lashes as it can make a big difference.

4. Now I run an eyebrow pencil through my brows. I don't create any line or shape. I just fill in sparse patches. I use the Soap and Glory Brow Archery but I use the wax crayon side for this look as its much more natural.

5. I like to apply a lip balm. I don't use a tinted one because I quite like my natural lip colour but if you wanted some colour I would recommend the Revlon lip butters.

This is all the steps I do to achieve this look! What do you do?

Rimmel Apocalips Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 2 comments
Hey guys!
Despite only having one of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers, I'm going to review it for you today.

I bought this product a while ago because I really wanted a lip lacquer and there was a sale on Rimmel. I hadn't read or seen any reviews on it so it was quite a risky purchase. A lip lacquer is a bit like a cross between a lipstick (vivid colour) and lipgloss (a glossy finish). Lip lacquers stain the lips to last all day. I do find that this is true, it does stain and last all day. In fact, after swatching it on the back of my hand, it stayed all day despite me trying to rub and wash it off.

This is extremely pigmented and the colour is very vivid. I have the colour Nova which is a nice pink but it is available in 13 shades in total. It is great for a night out when you want your lips to be bright and last all night but for a natural everyday look, its probably too pigmented and bright. I found that dabbing and blotting my lips after putting this product on can help you to achieve a nice, much more natural look that will last all day so thats what I tend to do.

I don't really have any bad points about this product however I probably won't be buying another one because I like the colour I have and the bright lips aren't really for me. I would recommend these though especially at a mere £5.99 and you can buy it here

Beauty Blender Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 2 comments
Hey guys,
So for Christmas, I got a beauty blender which I had been wanting for some time so was very pleased. These are small egg-shaped sponges that you put in water and they swell up, then you use them to apply your foundation and concealer for a flawless look.

It is a very easy way to apply your makeup and I do think it looks great but I'm not sure that it is better than brushes because they can give you a flawless look too but it is a great makeup applicator.

As you can see by the photo, it swells a lot after placing it in water, the only downside is that then it feels very damp despite drying it. It also is overpriced to say it is really just a sponge, because I got it for Christmas, this was not an issue for me but I think that you really can purchase cheaper versions from places like walmart or drugstores.

Best Drugstore Finds under £12

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
Hey guys,

So today I thought I'd share my favourite makeup items available at the drugstore, I have a lot of favourite lip products so that will be in a different post.

Firstly, as for primers, I really like the Rimmel Fix and Perfect primers. I have repurchased this product many times as it is only £6.99 and you can buy it here.

I couldn't narrow down my favourite drugstore foundation so I decided I liked 2. As for lower coverage I would say Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, it has the consistency of a BB cream and I really like it. It only costs £10.99 and you  can buy it here. As for higher coverage I went for Rimmel London's Match Perfection foundation. This is a creamy, lightweight foundation with a great coverage. It retails at £6.99 and you can buy it here

My favourite drugstore concealer would have to be Collection Long Lasting Perfection concealer. I love this stuff so much and it is only £4.19. This is my all-round favourite concealer, not just from the drugstore. It is available here.

My favourite drugstore powder is no surprise. Its Rimmel's Stay Matte, everybody loves this stuff and it is only £3.99 and you can buy it here.

On to blushes, I would have to say the Bourjois blushes, I have two different colours and I really like them both. Some of hem are slightly shimmery but there are lots of colours available. They smell really nice and are only £7.99 and you can buy them here.

My favourite drugstore bronzer and its my favourite bronzer all together actually is the NYC Sunny Bronzer, it has a nice matte finish and is great for contouring as well as bronzing up the face for a sun-kissed look. It is just $2.99 and you can buy it here. I have also heard that it is a great dupe for Benefits Hoola bronzer.

My favourite eyeliners are the Rimmel eyeliners. I have three different ones, nude, black and white. I have heard they are great dupes of Urban Decay liners. They are only £3.99 and are available here.

Mascaras was an easy decision, I love the Maybelline Mascaras. They my ultimate favourites and I love all of them that I've tried. They are around £7.99 depending on the one you buy and you can purchase them here.

For brows I really like the Maybelline Master Shape brow pencil and Milani's Brow Fix kit. I also like to set them with Maybellines clear Great Lash mascara.

Wet N Wild eyeshadow palettes would have to be my favourites. They are very pigmented and extremely cheap. I got the Comfort Zone palette containing 8 shades for just £4.99, you can buy it here.

My favourite drugstore highlighter is Wet N Wilds Reserve your cabana highlighter and I find it isn't too pigmented but if I pat it on the cheekbones with a Real Techniques pointed foundation brush, it works well.

Finally, my favourite brushes are the Real Techniques brushes, I have bought the Blush Brush as well as the Eye kit, the core collection and the travel set.

Green Eye Makeup Look

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 0 comments
Hey guys,

Heres how I achieved this eye makeup look.

I actually started by using a lipstick from a Wet N Wild lip Expressions palter. I used it as a cream shadow all over the lid, it was a gold colour.
Then I added the pink colour from the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone palette all over that.
I then added the green colour from the same palette on the outer part of my lid.
I also added the dark shimmery colour on the outer part and blended it all out.
Then I took the dark brown colour and put it in the crease.
Next I took the Rimmel Scandal Eyes eyeliner in Nude in my waterline and put a black eyeliner from Rimmel under my eyes and smudged it out.
I then curled my lashed and put a coat of Maybellines The Rocket mascara.
I did my eyebrows with my Milani Brow Kit  and my Maybelline Master Shape Bow pencil.

That was how I achieved this eye look! I hope you enjoyed it!

Bourjois 3D Effect Lipglosses Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 2 comments
Hey guys!
Today once again i'm going to be reviewing lip glosses. This time its the Bourjois Effet 3D Glosses which you can purchase here.

I have three of these glosses in number 46,  number 13 and number 05. I wish they had names but its just the numbers. These are very pigmented lip glosses but they are also very sticky, something I don't particularly like in a lipgloss. The smell isn't very strong and the colour is very nice too. The applicator is a small brush which I quite like.

Overall, I think that these are quite good lip glosses but they aren't  my favourite and I don't think I'm going to buy anymore because I really don't like how sticky they are but if you can get past that, they are great glosses.

Drugstore Dupes

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 08:14 2 comments
Hey guys,
I'm sorry my posting hasn't been entirely on point for the past few weeks, I will try to post more regularly but I can't guarantee it will be on schedule.

Today I have some dupes that I have found, some of the colours don't match up completely but the formulas do and vice versa. I am trying to find more dupes and when I go back to Florida in the summer I'm going to buy some more but until then this is what I've found.

Firstly, I think that this Benefit lipgloss is just like Jessica Simpson lipgloss. The formula is very similar and the colours are also similar.

My next dupe is the Mac lipstick in Syrup and Rimmel's Kate Moss lipstick in 17. These colours are slightly different but roughly the same and the formula is similar but I'd say the Mac one is slightly sheerer.

My next dupe i have had lots of questions about before asking if I'd tried both products and I finally got round to trying out the Maybelline Baby Skin pore eraser after having been using Benefits the Porefessional. I have to say that I do prefer Benefits pore eraser but if you have little money to spend I would go with Maybellines product because they are very similar, I just personally prefer the high-end version.

The next dupe is Benefits Bad Gal lash and Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl. These mascaras are very similar and I actually prefer Bourjois' mascara.

Stilas lip crayon in Party Pink and Rimmels Colour Rush in 'All you need is pink' are very similar colours but the Stila one is slightly darker. These are very similar products so if you didn't want to splurge on an expensive lip crayon, I'd go for these from Rimmel.

Mac Lipstick in Ravishing is a very similar colour to Revlons Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya. Revlons is a lot sheerer because it is only a lip butter but I'm sure if you built t up it would look very similar to the Mac Lipstick.

My next products aren't complete dupes but I find that the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is a lot like this Avon Palette. The Naked basics  shadows are a lot more pigmented and last a lot longer but if you didn't have that money, I do think the shadows in this Avon one are similar.

My final dupe is this Mac Limited Edition palette and the Wet N Wild palette in Comfort Zone. These aren't completely the same colours but Im sure you could get similar looks with them.

I intend to find more dupes but these are my current ones. I hope you liked this post!
