Mixed Haul

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
On Saturday I went to my local shopping mall and bought lots of new products. I won't talk about them too much though because once I have gotten a feel for the products, I will review them.

Firstly, I went to Boots and I bought the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in B20. I've been wanting to try this for a while now and I'll do a review on it once I have used it for a while. It is quite expensive at £33.00 but I've heard that its well worth the price. You can buy it here.

Also from Boots, I picked up a Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in the colour 107. This is a deep red colour which I have really wanted for a while and I highly rate the Kate Moss lipsticks from Rimmel. They are good quality but very affordable. If you want to see my full review on them, click here.

I also bought a nail polish from Barry M's Gelly collection in Blue Grape. I love this colour and you can buy it here.

Because of all of these Boots purchases, I had enough advantage points to get a free Benefit Gimme Brow. I would really recommend getting a Boots Advantage Card because I got a £17 for free with it. I got Benefits Gimme Brow in Light/Medium. You can buy it here.

Then I went to New Look and got some new black flat shoes because I needed some new school shoes.

After New Look, I went to Superdrug and I bought L'Oreal's Skin Perfection Moisturiser because I had run out of it. If you want to see my review on this, click here.

Also from Superdrug, I bought one of Tanya Burr's lip glosses in Chic. I haven't yet tried one of these but have heard such great things that I thought I'd try one out for myself. If you want to look at them, click here.

Then I went to Urban Outfitters and purchased an Infinity Bracelet but I want to wear it as an anklet because my other infinity anklet broke and I love to wear anklets during the summer. You can buy the same bracelet here.

I then went to Topshop and I bought two tops. I wanted some cropped tops that I could wear dressy or casual. I got a black one and a white one so that they go with everything. You can buy the same tops here.

Finally, I went to Debenhams in the Mac section and bought the Fix+. I have wanted a setting spray for a while and really had my eye on this one. It was £14.50 and you can look at it here.

I hope you enjoyed this haul post, I really loved all of the things I bought and I will review them soon.

Highend vs Highstreet: Primer

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
So today I'm talking about primers. I don't have a lot of primers because I have already found some I love and I prefer to spend my money on other products. I have been asked a lot about Benefits Porefessional and Maybellines Baby Skin in the past and how they compare so I thought today I'd focus mainly on those two primers but then possibly drift into Rimmel primers too.

First of all, I will talk about Benefits Porefessional. Personally, I love this stuff. It is my favourite primer by far but the downside is that its so expensive for a primer! This is a pore-perfecting primer that targets areas where your pores are largest for a flawless look. I have large pores around my nose and chin so I use only a very small amount on those areas and then a cheaper drugstore primer on the rest of face simply to save product and expense.

What it claims:

Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

This is a very silky, lightweight balm but some people find it to feel greasy. I personally don't  have this problem but I'd try it out in the shop to see if you are ok with it. This balm is also tinted slightly but not to the point where it comes in different colours, I just think this is a great way to disguise the pores even further.

The full sized tube of Benefits the Porefessional contains 22ml of product and retails at £24.50. I do think this is worth the price if you use the product sparingly.

Next is Maybellines Baby Skin. This is a much cheaper version. It does work the same way but I find that it feels extremely greasy on my skin, this is something that I don't particularly love.

What it claims:

Introducing Maybelline's first Baby blurring balm - an instant pore eraser! Enriched with insta-blur technology, this clear formula instantly transforms the look of your skin. Skin feels smoother, softer, and appears more refined.

The full size tube contains 20ml of product and retails at £7.99.

I wanted to love this a lot more than I did. For those of you who haven't yet tried Benefits the POREfessional, I would suggest purchasing this drugstore 'dupe' because they both do work well at disguising pores but I just think that Benefits version is a lot better.

Revlon Lip Butters Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 5 comments
Hey everyone,

In March, you may remember me buying a Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya. Then in April I bought another one and also got 2 for my birthday. I have been using them quite a lot and so I have a review on them for you today.

What they claim:

  • Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
  • Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
  • Sheer to medium colour with buttery shades
  • Available in 20 luscious shades
These lip balms are extremely moisturising and hydrating. The formula is quite thick and so if you don't  like the feel of stickiness then I wouldn't recommend it to you. I agree that these are very sheer colours but you can still see the colour you bought it in. It is a very subtle colour especially in certain shades but  I like that about them.

The shade selection of these is very good. There are 20 shades which range from pinks to oranges to nudes however there are no reds. I have the shades Juicy Papaya which is a very sheer pastel orange/peach colour, Tutti Frutti which is probably the darkest shade. It is a very bright orange but you can sheer it out with only one coat. I love wearing this on my holidays as its such a pretty, bright colour. I also have Sugar Frosting which is a very subtle nude/pink colour and Strawberry Shortcake which is quite a bright pink. I borrow my best friends shade Pink Lemonade a lot and I really like that colour, it is a pale pink colour and is really pretty.
\

The colours these are available in are:

  • Wild Watermelon
  • Juicy Papaya
  • Sorbet
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Pink Truffle
  • Sugar Frosting
  • Raspberry Pie
  • Tutti Frutti
  • Peach Parfait
  • Fig Jam
  • Candy Apple
  • Red Velvet
  • Cotton Candy
  • Berry Smoothie
  • Cupcake
  • Lollipop
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Sugar Plum
  • Sweet Tart
  • Creme Brûlée

These lip balms smell quite nice and don't have much of a taste which can be good for a lot of people. These retail at £7.99 which is quite pricey for a drugstore lip balm. I do think that they are worth the money and I would suggest waiting for a time that they are on offer. They are often on 3 for 2 at Boots so I would suggest looking there. You can buy the Revlon Lip Butters here.

MAC lipsticks review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 3 comments
Despite only having two Mac Lipsticks, today Im going to review them for you.

I find that the Mac lipsticks are highly pigmented and smell amazing. There is such a wide range of colours and finishes and I would really like some more. There is so much range in colour that it took me a while to choose a colour.

I have the colours Syrup and Ravishing. Syrup is a neutral pink colour which I think is a nice everyday lipstick and Ravishing is a more orange toned lipstick.

These products are £15.00 each which is very expensive for a lipstick but I do really like them. I think good drugstore dupes would be the Rimmel lipsticks and I would suggest purchasing those if you are looking for a cheaper version. I would like some more of these and hopefully I will get some in the future!

Makeup Tips and Tricks

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 0 comments
Today I have some of my favourite tricks that I use when it comes to makeup. There aren't many but this is just what I sometimes do.

1. Use a brown eyeshadow as a bronzer.
Sometimes when I want a heavier contour that I'm finding difficult to achieve with my bronzer, I'll use a brown eyeshadow in the hollows of my cheeks. It is the same concept, its just sometimes a more appropriate colour!

2. Use clear mascara as brow gel.
Instead of buying a brow gel, I purchased a cheap clear mascara and use it to set my brows instead. I also find that these last a lot longer and you can use them as a mascara too!

3. Use eyebrow pencil as brown eyeliner.
This is a great double up product if you want a more subtle look with less products.

4. Use lipsticks as cream eyeshadows.
This one sounds crazy but I like using my Wet N Wild Lip Expressions palette on my eyelids as a base. It surprisingly works really well and I prefer using this palette for that.

My Photography #7

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
Hello everyone,

I only have two photos today because they don't really fit with many other categories.

This next picture is my favourite because I have two sisters and for this photo, I blended the photo of our feet with the photo I took of my younger and older sister. I then added a quote which I love. I hope you like this photo.

Stila Makeup Review

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 2 comments
Hi guys,
I have recently found some Stila Makeup products, the reason I say found is that my older sister used to use these products which I didn't realise because I was only 5 at the time and I've suddenly found them and tried them out. I was over the moon to find these products because lets face it, Stila is a good, high-street makeup brand! And I don't own many high-end products. I doubt that these products will still be available as I couldn't find a link for them but I still thought I'd review them for you.

So I found 3 items, a blush, liquid foundation and concealer, all of which I will be reviewing today. Firstly, I tried out the concealer. It is a stick concealer in the shade B. It is slightly darker than my skin tone because my sister has slightly darker skin than me but its nothing dramatic that a bit of blending couldn't fix. This is a good cover-up but the problem is that it doesn't blend very well at all which it needs to because it is quite yellow-toned.

The next product I tried was the blush. It is quite a rose colour and very pretty. I tried it out and it is super pigmented! I really like it! It is probably my favourite blush that I own. The only down side to it is the packaging. Obviously this is quite an old product but the packaging is cardboard and is not very good. The actual blush though is fantastic.

The final product is the foundation also in the shade B. This foundation is quite orange so it takes some blending in but once its blended it is a nice coverage and foundation. The major disadvantage is the smell though because it really smells disgusting! I'm not sure if I could actually go a whole day wearing it because the smell is so strong and its not a good one. This really disappoints me because the actual consistency is great.

Overall, I'm not overly impressed by these Stila products. The blush, like I said is great but the others are nothing worth what you pay for them and I wouldn't buy them, drugstore makeup works much better and is much cheaper.

The Beauty Scenario Tag

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00 1 comments
1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
For high end it would have to be the Bare Minerals powder foundation and for drugstore it would be between Rimmel Match Perfection and Bourjois Healthy Mix but I'd probably keep the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum.

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
I would ignore it because it isn't an appropriate comment to make at an interview.

3. You're not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?
I probably wouldn't put a lipstick on but if I had to it would probably be Mac's Ravishing.

4. I can't do this question as I am a teenager.

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut but they hear you wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you:
a) smile, say thank you, leave and call your Mum hysterical
b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward
c) Complain to the manager and get a refund

I would do a.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which 'do it all' palette do you take?
I don't really have many and no 'do it all' ones so I'd take my Urban Decay Naked Basics palette.

7. Your house has been robbed! Don't worry, everyone is safe but your beauty stash has been raided. Whats the product you really hope is safe?
Probably my Stila Blush because it is really old and so I'm not sure I'd be able to replace it and I love the colour so much! Everything else I think I could replace.

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you
a) Just pretend you haven't noticed
b) Ask them to repurchase it
c) Secretly do the same to theirs.

I would have confronted them about it because they are my friend but since it isn't one of the options I would pretend I hadn't noticed. I think my friends would repurchase it if they ruined it anyway though.

I hope you enjoyed this tag! I tag all of you to do it.
