Blogmas Day 3: Christmas Ideas for Beauty Lovers

Posted by Olivia Jayne at 00:00
Recently, I took a trip to Sephora and noticed some great Christmas sets which got me thinking abut potential Christmas Ideas Beauty-wise. Here are some of my ideas… All things talked about will be linked below.

Firstly, at Sephora there is a wide range of beauty gifts that are great value. I bought one for me now which was $39 but intended to retail at $145. It contained a full sized Smashbox BB Cream, Nars Orgasm blush, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liner, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin and then mini-sized Bite lipstick and Benefit They're Real mascara. I was really pleased with this kit which was 'Sephora's most popular items'. There were also many other great kits which I will leave linked at the bottom of the post.

Sephora aside, I thought that these kits were great ideas but not everyone wants to splurge this much for presents for one person when you have lots of people to buy for so it got me thinking into other more affordable gifts. I thought that these sets are easily re-createable with cheaper products. Simply buy a makeup bag and fill it with drugstore products or a mixture of the products that you know the person loves. If you don't know much about makeup, its easy to research some of the top selling makeup products and re-creating what Sephora have done with their set. If I were to fill a kit with the best drugstore products that most people will love, I would fill it with these:

  1. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation - I think that the majority of people love this product as it can be applied sheerly or more heavily to suit everyones wishes and Rimmel is sold most places. The only problem would be the colour match.
  2. Bourjois blush in 34 Rose/ NYX blush in Mocha - I realise that Bourjois isn't sold in the US so the NYX blush would be a great alternative but either one of these blushes are a great option and very affordable.
  3. Soap and Glory Lid Stuff /Wet N Wild Eyeshadow trio in Walking on Eggshells - Soap and Glory is great  for cheaper eyeshadows but it isn't sold much in the US so the Wet N Wild palette is a great alternative and both of these palette's colours are very wearable.
  4. Rimmel eyeliner in Jet Black - Rimmel eyeliners are the best and are so affordable.
  5. Maybelline The Rocket Mascara - This is a really nice mascara. It can be worn more naturally but also built up for a more dramatic look, its my favourite.
  6. Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya - the Revlon lip butters are so popular and this colour is especially. Its a great option.
  7. Real Techniques Travel Set - As far as makeup brushes go, this set covers all areas and is still very affordable.

Overall, these sets would cost more than the Sephora ones as they have more products included but you could easily choose which you wanted in the set. It just shows what good value the Sephora sets are though.
